Inside, however, the Regency and Delta 88 were nearly identical to their counterparts from the previous model year. In fact, the classicly beautiful Regency door panels actually debuted in the 1979 model and were only slightly modified for 1980. The dashboard, seats, and interior trim remained basically unchanged for 1980 except for fabric selections.

Under the hood was a powerful and reliable Olds 307 V-8 mated to a 3-speed THM 350 transmission. Optional engines included a Buick 5.7-liter V-8 and the infamous GM Diesel V-8.

Certain cars sold in California came with a computerized engine control system while all others had a normal carbeurator. 4-speed overdrive was not available in 1980 models.
